ABOUT THE ARTIST

About Dennis

Living in Loveland, Colorado in the eighties gave me the benefit of friendships and learning from many unselfish fine artists. After working in sculpture for several years I immersed myself in the study of painting having been given a kick start by Clyde Aspevig. Intrigued by the resultant luminosity of the work by Maxfield Parrish I studied color theory, the use of primary colors and the technique and palettes of other artists both in watercolor and oil painting. Workshops with Irving Shapiro, Buffalo Kaplinski and Kim English taught me various ways to address painting. Studies with Jon Zahourek were extremely important for understanding the muscle and bone activity in the human and animal anatomy. Studies also included classes along with many others at the University of Cincinnati, Notre Dame Graduate School and night classes at the Cincinnati School of Fine Art and Colorado State University .
