The title came from one of my favorite Lakota Sioux artist friends. It was quite a dynamic scene to see coming out of the Glen Haven road driving down into Estes Park.

I got soaked for a few hours but it was quite an experience. It has a refreshingly feeling for a quite environment in a den or bedroom. Fun

This painting was done a few years after the Lawn Lake flood and shows little plant growth because of the scouring effect of the flood. It has been interesting to document scenes like this at different times in watercolor and in oil.

This is the largest of the Quiet Time painting series so far. One of the few paintings where it shines in subdued light.

This is a  more gentle painting, strong in a quiet way.

That overlap in time when the beautiful bold color of the Aspen is enchanced by the clean crispness of the snow.

I have painted this scene in many ways to explore and discover the beauty in the complexity of the mountains. I like this one because in its expressionistic looseness it directed me to do the large more realistic documentation of the wilderness scene with all its anomalies and geological remnants which reflect its growth.

An early morning riser I see the mountains bathed in glorious unexpected colors.

My son and I spend a lot of time in the Gardens and this was a good place to enjoy the flowering crabs across the path.

Memories…sometimes paintings document friendships and images at the same time.  “Jim Creek” near Ward, CO. I always think of a gentle old miner friend (Amanda’s dad) from Nederland and his heart of gold as I hike west from the old highway stone bridge on the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway.
